Romance or Bro-Mance?

I am a huge fan of Once Upon A Time, the fantasy TV Show that ran for 7 seasons, from 2011 to 2018. This show has a huge following, and an amazing cast who, as far as I'm aware, are still good friends.

I don't know if I speak for others when I say this, but Captain Swan (Emma Swan, played by Jennifer Morrison, and Captain Hook, i.e. Killian Jones, played by Colin O'Donoghue) was my favorite ship from the moment I saw the two on-screen together. In fact, their chemistry on-screen was so perfect, and so intense, that I once believed Morrison and O'Donoghue had to be together.

I think we were on Season 4a, with Anna, Elsa, and their aunt, Ingrid, when I found out that Colin O'Donoghue was married, with kids... And not to Jennifer Morrison.

My young shipper heart was ripped out of its chest and crushed. Thankfully, I got over ti quickly and understood that Colin was very happy with his wife, and asked no further questions. Until recently, when watching clips of Morrison and O'Donoghue at panels before Season 7 was filmed/before it was aired. It almost hurt to see the two together and learn that Morrison was leaving the show, despite being the part of the main cast from the very beginning.

This may seem ridiculous, but I can't get it out of my head that maybe Morrison left the show due to possible feelings for O'Donoghue, and left, in part, to escape those feelings, as well as pursue another career... I'm writing this to debunk my own theories. Jennifer left the show because after 13 years of back-to-back acting, from Once Upon A Time, House, and How I Met Your Mother, she rarely had time for family and friends. She left the show and the acting scene to pursue a personal life, one she definitely deserves.

Jennifer Morrison is also a director, as well as a producer, and while she had amazing chemistry with Colin O'Donoghue on set, it's almost 100% confirmed that the friendship they had was just that. A platonic friendship. But, I suppose people will believe whatever they want to believe, so long as it makes them happy.

I, personally, will always love the look of Colin O'Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison as Emma and Hook, and will continue to write and read fluffy, angsty little fan fiction AU's until my heart gives out from fangirling. Of course, I do respect Morrison and O'Donoghue's privacy and suggest everyone else should as well, and think that everyone should stop shipping real-life people... Unless they're dating/married. Seriously, guys, if you want to ship Colin with anyone, ship him with his wife. They make an adorable couple!

To anyone who has not seen the show, or is just now hearing about this TV Show, I strongly recommend checking it out. It is currently available on Disney + for your viewing pleasure, and Youtube. Go, binge, read fan fictions, and continue to remember that just because your favorite actors have great chemistry on a show, does not mean they're together in real life.
